HomeMy WebLinkAbout[04a] Minutes - November 17, 2018November 17, 2018 Page 1 of 1 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council for the City of St. Joseph met in special session on Friday, November 17, 2018 at 7:30 AM at the St. Joseph Government Center. Members Present: Mayor Rick Schultz, Councilors Dale Wick, Bob Loso, Anne Buckvold, Administrator Judy Weyrens. Canvass Election: Weyrens presented the Council the November 6, 2018 Election results as prepared by the Election Judges. The results are as follows: Wick made a motion to accept the election results as presented, declaring the following winning candidates: Mayor, Rick Schultz; Council Members Anne Buckvold and Brian Theisen. The motion was seconded by Schultz and passed unanimously by those present. 2019 Employee Health Insurance: Weyrens reported that she has received a request from AFSME to re- consider how the health insurance is administered. As the City is considered small group, the premiums are age banded which results in disproportionate cost sharing. The City could participate in the Resources Training and Solutions Coop, which would allow the City to provide insurance as a large group having one rate for single and one for family. AFSCME is requesting the Council considering increasing the cap for family coverage if small group insurance is the option, or increasing the cap for both single and family if the large group option is selection. The Council expressed concern with opening the contract for insurance as if you open for one bargaining unit, they must do the same for the other unit. By consensus the Council was not agreeable to opening the contract regarding insurance. Adjourn: Schultz made a motion to adjourn at 7:500 AM; seconded by Wick and passed unanimously by those present. Judy Weyrens Administrator
