PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council adopted the 2019 budget including necessary government
center related expenses.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The granite floors in the government center are showing some
wear and tear due to salt and sand tracking in from outside. To preserve the granite, a scrub and coating
can be applied. The coating provides easier clean up and long lasting tiles. A photo of sealed granite is
attached along with a quote for the service. The professional service was included in the 2019 budget for
$3,200.
The police department has noticed the new garage is not holding heat as it should. Ice and snow on the
squads are not melting off when parked in the garage overnight. Gold Cross stated their space is not
staying warm. It was determined the heat is rising to the ceiling and not making it down to the floor level.
Adding fans will push the heat downward. Adding the fans is estimated to cost$1,500. The fans were
not included in the budget,but could come from the debt service relief fund.
In addition to the heat issues,the GFI receptacles in the Sally Port and garage area keep tripping. Staff
suggests upgrading the receptacles to meet the needs of the equipment in the area. The cost to replace the
receptacles will be allocated between the government center and police department and is estimated to be
under$1,000.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $5,700

identified.
