PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Purchase of a 2018 Bobcat Skid Loader
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City purchased 2018 Bobcat Skid Loader to replace the
1997 John Deere skid loader. The Erskine snow blower attachment was retained and now is
being used on the Bobcat. Staff would like to purchase a Bob Cat broom attachment for the 2018
Bobcat Skid Loader. Currently staff uses the John Deere 1575 front mount with a broom
attachment to sweep sidewalks, parking lots,trails, boulevards and more. The work load is
proving to be heavy of use for the smaller 1575 John Deere front mount. The skid loader broom
would handle the heavy needs in the City. This attachment would be used on heavier snow falls,
spring cleanup, alley sweeping, and boulevard cleanup, minor glass breakage on streets, parking
lot and trail cleanup. The 1575 still will be required for lighter duty work with in the City of the
same nature. The current broom has been failing due to being worked harder then what it's
meant to. The front mount attachment will be retained to use around the SJGC and Community
Center in the future. The Capital Purchase is included in the 2019 budget.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $3,871.00
