AGENDA ITEM: BDPI Grant – Requested Action: Authorize the Mayor and
Administrator to execute the Grant Agreement accepting BDPI Grant funding in the amount of 1.245M.

BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City along with the St. Joseph EDA submitted a grant
application to DEED requesting 1.245M in bond funding to help finance the creation of a shovel ready
industrial park.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On July 24, 2018 the received an award notice for 1.245 of
funding assistance through the Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Program.
The funding will allow for the installation of public utilities and infrastructure. The City has been
working with the Developer, CLC Partnership to finalize the access points and plat. The project schedule
is as follows:
Securing of all required permits May 2019
Bid Process April – May 2019
Construction Start Date May 2019
Construction Completion Date July 2020
The project is on schedule as the bids are scheduled to be opened on May 3, with potential award on May
6, 2019. The City received the grant contract from DEED on April 22, 2019.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Funding assistance in the amount of $ 1,245,000

I am pleased to inform you that the City of St. Joseph's application for a Greater Minnesota Business
Development Public Infrastructure Program Grant for the St. Joseph Industrial Park has been approved in the
amount of $1,245,000. Under the authority of Minnesota Statute 116J.431, this award will provide the necessary
resources for continued economic growth and enhance employment in the community and surrounding area.
Future uses of the industrial park site must comply with this statute. All parties involved in the preparation of
the city's application can be proud of this award.
DEED staff aim to assist you and your staff in achieving your business and community development goals.
