Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council for the City of St. Joseph met in special session
on Thursday, July 22, 2019 at 4:00 PM at the St. Joseph Government Center.
Members Present: Mayor Rick Schultz. Councilors Anne Buckvold, Brian Theisen, Bob Loso, Troy
Goracke. Administrator Judy Weyrens.
City Representatives Present: City Attorney, Sue Kadlec.
Others Present: Kris Ambuehl, Glenn Anderson, Joel Dhein, Annita Smythe.
The purpose of the meeting was to interview the following candidates for the position of City
Administrator/EDA Director: Kris Ambuehl, Glenn Anderson, Joel Dhein, Annita Smythe
Administrator Hire: After considerable discussion, Loso made a motion to hire Kris Ambuehl for the
position of City Administrator/EDA Director. Ambuehl will start at Step 2 ($ 94,498.08) of the
Administrator pay range and will be eligible for a step increase to Step 3 ($ 98,751.01) after
completion of the six month training period. Weyrens will negotiate the vacation and sick leave
consistent with past department head hires and Ambuehl will receive all other benefits provided
to exempt employees as stated in the St. Joseph Personnel Policy. The motion was seconded by
Goracke and passed unanimously.
Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned by consensus.
