BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City Council has worked with the Lions in the past on many
projects and the Lions are a committed organization to the City of St. Joseph
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The St. Joseph Lions building committee met to discuss three
priority projects in regards to the Millstream Park. I have received cost for these projects prior to the
Lions review. The projects are as listed.
Sound attenuation for inside the pavilion. $5,800.00
Driveway/Parking lot lights. $16,882.00
Parking expansion Eng. Estimate $115,000.00
The Lions voted to donate $5,800.00 for the building attenuation, 100% of cost.
The Lions voted to donate $10,282.00 towards Driveway/parking lot lights for 2019. The City has
budgeted $6,600.00 in the CIP for 2019. There was $6,700.00 budgeted for 2020. The lions want to see
the 2020 funds for driveway/parking lot lights moved over to the Parking lot expansion for 2020. A CIP
sheet has been created.
The Lions have intentions to donate more funds in 2020 for the parking expansion in the park. The
amount is not known at this time. They would like to have the sound attenuation and parking lot lights
completed yet this year.
Total donations for these projects in 2019 would be $16,082.00 with the commitment of the parking lot
expansion as soon as possible.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: This will cost $6,600 in 2019 from CIP SL-1801

REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Approve donations from the Lions in the amount of $16,082.00,
Approve the $6,600 expenditure from SL-1801 Approve to proceed with the work for installation of the
driveway/parking lot lights, and the sound attenuation inside the building. Attach the parking lot
expansion to the 2020 street improvement plan
