Land Use Applications:
Conditional and Interim Use Permit requests were received and reviewed for residential rentals.
Rental Regulations:
The Planning Commission is reviewing rental regulations within the City’s zoning ordinance and
consensus is to provide more flexibility and consistency in the residential districts.
Bike Share System:
The Cities of St. Joseph and Waite Park were awarded a SHIP (Statewide Health Improvement
Program) grant of $8,800 to assist in the purchase of a bike share system. The bike share system
st
arrived on October 1 and includes 10 bikes, 16 bike racks and software. The docking station
locations will be at the Lake Wobegon Trail head in St. Joseph and River’s Edge Park in Waite Park.
Staff will receive software training from Dynamic Bicycles, Inc. More information to come yet on
announcing the program to riders with the potential of having a launch day event.
Northland Business Center (new industrial park):
The public improvements are under way and a building permit application for Trobec’s Bus Service
is under review. It is anticipated that the building footings will be constructed this fall yet for their new
facility.
St. Joseph Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB):
I attended the monthly St. Joseph CVB meeting on October 7, which is funded by the City’s lodging
tax. They have been marketing St. Joseph area businesses, recreation and events i.e. Mill Stream
Arts Festival. Here to promote all things St. Joseph: Events! Business! People! This is what they do.
Check out their Facebook page at Visit Joetown if you haven’t already. The group is working to
develop a website and will be advertising in the 2020 St. Cloud Area Visitor’s Guide but is also
exploring developing a St. Joseph Visitor’s Guide. They are working with a videographer who is
producing marketing videos for each season.
MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED):
Administrator Kris and I met with our DEED representative David Heyer to learn more about
economic development opportunities, including grants, business leads, and to share opportunities in
St. Joseph.
Krewe Restaurant and Flour to Flower Bakery:
We issued the loan for the new restaurant and bakery from the City’s Revolving Loan Fund program.
The estimated opening is December.
