Ordinance Amendments
The Planning Commission reviewed draft amendments to the rental regulations at their meeting

on November 11. This was an opportunity to review further amendments within the zoning
ordinance and therefore, proposed updates to formatting and permitted and conditional uses
were reviewed.
St. Joseph Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB):
The St. Joseph CVB have been marketing St. Joseph area businesses, recreation and events
i.e. Mill Stream Arts Festival through their Facebook page at Visit Joetown. The following
highlights their marketing efforts:

Hosting a Meet the CVB event on Nov. 18 at 7:30 AM at Bad Habit for local businesses
to meet the CVB (attached flyer).
Advertising in the 2020 St. Cloud Area Visitor’s Guide but are also exploring developing
a St. Joseph Visitor’s Guide.
Working with a videographer who is producing marketing videos for each season.
Working to develop a website to further market, including showcasing their videos,
having a calendar of events, and potentially the ability to sell their swag (t-shirts, hats,
etc.) online.
MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED):
Administrator Kris and I met with our DEED representative David Heyer in October to learn
more about economic development opportunities, including grants, business leads, and to share
opportunities in St. Joseph and have another meeting scheduled this month, along with a
property owner related to development.
New Development/Businesses:

The Oaks on 20 (Two 35 unit apartments) are under construction. The first apartment building
is planned to be open in spring 2020.
Strack Office and Warehouse - Planned completion is this December.
Dollar General – Construction is complete. Opening soon.
Krewe Restaurant and Flower to Flower Bakery – Planned opening is this December.
Barrett’s Music store opened in Northland Plaza (former Riff City Guitar space).
