HomeMy WebLinkAbout[12b] Community Development Report THERESE HAFFNER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR 75 Callaway Street East St Joseph, MN 56374 thaffner@cityofstjoseph.com COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: December 16, 2019 ORDINANCE UPDATES I drafted amendments to the zoning ordinance and a new housing and rental ordinance. The Planning Commission reviewed both ordinances and are recommending approval of those updates. The zoning ordinance th amendments are on the City Council agenda for consideration for Monday’s December 16 meeting. The housing and rental ordinance will be presented to the City Council likely in January. JOINT PLANNING BOARD th The Joint Planning Board met last Tuesday, December 10 to review a request for approval of preliminary and final plat for a minor subdivision for property located in St. Joseph Township in the City’s orderly annexation area. AFFORDABLE HOUSING Sand Companies announced that MN Housing and Finance approved their application for tax credits to construct a 48 unit affordable housing apartment building in St. Joseph on the property located in the Liberty th Pointe Subdivision at 20 Ave. SE & Dale St., southwest of the Army Reserve Facility. Kris, Terry, Randy and I met with Sand Companies to discuss their proposal and the development process. NEW BUSINESSES Dollar General Store is open. Strack Construction Facility is nearly completed. Krewe Restaurant and Flour to Flower Bakery now anticipate opening in the spring. -THERESE
