COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT
TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

SUMMARY
Planning Commission: The Planning Commission reviewed and recommended approval of a special
home occupation permit for an art studio. The Planning Commission was also given a copy of the
implementation plan of the Comprehensive Plan to review in the coming months.
Joint Planning Board: The Joint Planning Board reviewed and approved a Certificate of Survey for
CNL Excavating and Pam’s Auto allowing for the adjustments of property boundaries.
Meetings: Meetings were held with Sand Companies on their proposed apartment housing project, CLC
Partners on the new industrial park, along with meetings with the owner of Kay’s Kitchen and Naan Bakery as
part of the BR & E (Business, Retention & Expansion) program. I will continue to set up monthly BR & E
meetings. I met with Allison Dudek with Stearns County Public Health and the principal of Kennedy
Community School to discuss the Safe Routes to School Technical Assistance grant for a demonstration project
at the intersection of CR 121 and Jade Road. Kris and I met with Stearns Electric CEO Robin Doege to discuss
resources and economic development programs (grants and loans).
UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS
A meeting to review the draft MN Streetscape Plan will be held with staff.
