In 2019 we had 244 calls for the month of January. This year we ended the month with 275 calls. 31 extra calls gave us almost a 15% increase of calls th from the previous year. Recently, officers had two calls that stood out. 1 was on Jan 28,2020 where officers were investigating a vehicle outside a ministorage at 1230 am on a Tuesday night. The call ended with the nd seizure of the truck, substantial amount of drugs and cash, a loaded handgun (2 time in 8 months for the suspect) and a storage locker containing numerous stolen items. Officers Walz and Fandel did an excellent job of self-initiating the call and being very safety conscious throughout the stop. Officer Johnson did a great job communicating with the county attorney’s office to execute several search warrants on the vehicle and storage unit. The second call was Officer Fandel stopping a car one week later at approximetly 0430 in the morning for driving 71 in a 60-mph zone, missing a head light and front license plate with expired registration. Officer Fandel recognized drug activity during the stop and turned up sizable amount of drugs and cash aas well as a vehicle forfeiture. Officer Magaard and a member of the Central Minnesota Violent Offenders Task Force (VOTF) executed a warrant on the vehicle which lead to additional drugs and cash located in a safe in the trunk. STAFF Staff is continuing to do training requirements during the cold months and will be holding our annual outdoor cold weather shoot a the end of February instead of trying to squeeze it in around vacations in December. UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS The potential final Johnny/Tommy game venue has been moved to US Bank Stadium next fall. While this does affect a loss of revenue for the city at bars, restaurants, and gas stations, the police department side of this event is ok with the venue relocation. -Dwight
