PUBLIC WORKS REPORT
TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
DATE: March 12, 2020
SUMMARY
We have been working on Emerald Ash Borer issues and how to deal with this. C&L is involved since
this is where the wood would be ground. I have been in contact with some businesses that grind brush and am
figuring the extra cost associated with the finer grinding recommended by the Dept of Ag. At the same time, we
have been working on the annual contract with C&L for composting. We have been working on getting cost
associated with street and trail maintenance for the year. Building maintenance has been keeping us busy with
boiler failures and such items. We have been pricing a 1 ton dually with a dump box and associated safety
requirements. We have completed most of the State Agencies required reports for the City, the major one left is
the annual MS4 permit. This will be completed before June. The City of Waite Park has ordered a new hot box
for patching streets, I will be looking at their old hot box for possible purchase and use in the City of St. Joseph.
STAFF
Staff have been removing dead and dying tree’s from Klinefelter Park, Carrs tree service took down a
cluster of trees located on the backside of a residence, this was located to close to have staff remove. Staff has
been repairing and servicing equipment as needed’ a solenoid and wiring harness was replaced on the
transmission on plow truck #94. Removing and replacing rotten boards on the old salt shed. Taking advantage
of the nice weather this time of year.
UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS
I will be starting in the early stages of the 2021 budget, we will be working on the State Salt contract
amounts. Looking at Earth day requested projects with the Rec Director, planning for spring.
