HomeMy WebLinkAbout[03d] MN Economic Development Foundation Community Internship Scholarship Council Agenda Item 3d MEETING DATE: April 6, 2020 AGENDA ITEM: Minnesota Economic Development Foundation Community Internship Scholarship SUBMITTED BY: Community Development STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Accept Community Internship Scholarship PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Minnesota Economic Development Foundation has awarded the City of St. Joseph a $1,000 Community Internship Scholarship for salary for an intern. The City budgeted for a Planning Intern in 2020 to assist the Community Development Department with planning and economic development related tasks. The temporary position was posted in February and we have received seven applications that are currently under review. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: 2020 Budgeted Amount is $4,500. The Minnesota Economic Development Foundation is pleased to Greater St. Cloud Development Corp. announce that the City of St. Joseph has been awarded a $1,000 Community Mark Lofthus, Past Chair Internship Scholarship. This scholarship is for intern salary only and must be Dakota Electric Association matched by at least $1,000 (total intern salary paid must be at least $2,000). Also, we look for Economic Development Academy (date TBD- likely July or August 2020) which Tom Lambrecht provides interns exposure to various aspects of the economic development Great River Energy profession and an opportunity to interact with other interns and economic Michael Mulrooney development professionals.
