PUBLIC WORKS REPORT
TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
DATE: April 16, 2020
SUMMARY
The City has been working with C& L regarding the changing requirements with Emerald Ash bore now
in the area. The brush has been chipped to the Department of Agriculture recommended size to kill the Ash
Borer. This allows the residents to use the product free at home as long as they have a compost permit. This will
be an added yearly expense to the budget. The Ridgewood lift station has been rebuilt with the industrial park
addition. The lift station is working in good order. Dead and dying trees have been removed from Klinefelter
park. The stumps have been ground and cleanup will happen when the ground is dry. The sweeper should be in
the City with in a couple of weeks. The 1-ton truck has been ordered and the actual date the truck will be here is
unknown with the COVID 19 issues.
STAFF
Staff have been disinfecting buildings and equipment on a daily basis, and the department is operating
with COVID 19 safety recommendations. Park amenities have been closed by staff to assist in keeping social
distancing. Staff has been sweeping streets, picking up trash, repairing sod damage, patching pot holes and
flushing sanitary sewers. Operations and Maintaining utilities have been a priority during these fluid times. We
have been preparing parks for the spring/summer use.
UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS
I have started early stages of the 2021 budget. Construction projects have started from previous projects.
Paving will start in early May. Looking at Earth day requested projects with the Rec Director, this will be
limited due to COVID 19.
