HomeMy WebLinkAbout[09d] Public Works Report TERRY THENE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR 75 Callaway Street East St Joseph, MN 56374 tthene@cityofstjoseph.com PUBLIC WORKS REPORT TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: April 16, 2020 SUMMARY The City has been working with C& L regarding the changing requirements with Emerald Ash bore now in the area. The brush has been chipped to the Department of Agriculture recommended size to kill the Ash Borer. This allows the residents to use the product free at home as long as they have a compost permit. This will be an added yearly expense to the budget. The Ridgewood lift station has been rebuilt with the industrial park addition. The lift station is working in good order. Dead and dying trees have been removed from Klinefelter park. The stumps have been ground and cleanup will happen when the ground is dry. The sweeper should be in the City with in a couple of weeks. The 1-ton truck has been ordered and the actual date the truck will be here is unknown with the COVID 19 issues. STAFF Staff have been disinfecting buildings and equipment on a daily basis, and the department is operating with COVID 19 safety recommendations. Park amenities have been closed by staff to assist in keeping social distancing. Staff has been sweeping streets, picking up trash, repairing sod damage, patching pot holes and flushing sanitary sewers. Operations and Maintaining utilities have been a priority during these fluid times. We have been preparing parks for the spring/summer use. UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS I have started early stages of the 2021 budget. Construction projects have started from previous projects. Paving will start in early May. Looking at Earth day requested projects with the Rec Director, this will be limited due to COVID 19. -Terry
