COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT
TO: HONERABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

SUMMARY
With the MN Stay at Home Executive Order, I have been sending out regular email updates to St. Joseph
businesses, including resources available to them for emergency loans, unemployment benefits, etc.
Additionally, I have added a COVID-19 Business Resource web page to the City’s website. I continue to
receive quite a number of calls for zoning information, including for sheds and fences. Further updates are as
follows:
Vista Apartments.: Site plan approval is under review for the 48-unit complex.
Knife River: Certificate of Survey and site plan approval application are under review for a proposed
expansion of Knife River facilities.
Planning Commission: May Planning Commission meeting was canceled since I did not receive any
land use applications. I am anticipating a re-plat request for the June meeting.

Planning Intern: Josh Storms’ first day is Monday, May 18.
Rental License: As you recall, you had adopted the new Rental Ordinance and amended the Zoning
Ordinance related to rentals earlier this year. I created a new rental application, and checklist for 2020 to better
regulate and be consistent with the new ordinance.
