PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Council previously approved Precinct 1 at Haehn Campus
Center and Precinct 2 at the Government Center.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On May 12, the Governor signed legislation disallowing polling
places in schools. Staff reached out to Resurrection Lutheran Church and they agreed to having Precinct 1
at their location. Stearns County will send notices to impacted residents with the updated location.
This impacts residents west of College Ave.

2020-019 Designating Polling Places for the 2020 Primary and General Elections.
RESOLUTION 2020-19
DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES FOR 2020 PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute section 204B.16, sub. 1 requires an annual designation of a polling place
for each election precinct; and
WHEREAS, changes to the polling place locations may be made at least 90 days before the next election
if one or more of the authorized polling places becomes unavailable for use; and
WHEREAS, changes to the polling place locations may be made in the case of an emergency when it is
necessary to ensure a safe and secure location for voting; and
WHEREAS, as a direct result of COVID-19, Governor Walz signed legislation disallowing polling places
in schools; and
WHEREAS, Precinct 1 is located at Haehn Campus Center on the College of Saint Benedict Campus; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That the St. Joseph City Council hereby designates the following polling places for the 2020 Primary and
General Elections:
Precinct 1 – Resurrection Lutheran Church, 610 County Road 2
That part of the City lying west of County Road 121/College Avenue
Precinct 2 – St. Joseph Government Center, 75 Callaway Street East
That part of the City lying east of County Road 121/College Avenue
