HomeMy WebLinkAbout08.15.23August 15, 2023 Page 1 of 1 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the St. Joseph Economic Development Authority met on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Members Present: Board Members Kevin Kluesner, Rick Schultz, Joe Bye, Dale Wick, Larry Hosch Members Absent: None City Representatives Present: Nate Keller Community Development Director, City Administrator David Murphy Schultz called the St. Joseph Economic Development Authority meeting to order at 12:00 PM Public Comments None Agenda Approval: Bye made a motion to approve the agenda as presented; seconded by Wick and passed unanimously by those present. Consent Agenda: Wick made a motion to approve the consent agenda as follows; seconded by Bye and passed unanimously by those present. a. Minutes - Approve the minutes of June 20th, 2023 b. Financial Report — As of June c. TIF Reports EDA Priorities Keller provided general updates on the Boutique hotel, downtown redevelopment, Industrial Park growth and Gateway development. Board members discussed the Boutique hotel and progress being made. Further property acquisitions need to occur. Schultz mentioned to involve the GSDC in some of the discussions and outreach efforts. 2024 Budget Keller brought up the ideas of pursuing BDPI for Industrial Park Phase 2 as priority. Keller also mentioned the idea of a "Tiny Business Village". Idea would be to help provide low cost space for entrepreneurs in the form of small structures. Other partners like GSDC, DEED, Initiative Foundation could potentially be involved. The key would be to find an applicable piece of property. One property mentioned by Keller was not deemed to be worth discussing and outreaching to the property owner. Other ideas for locations were discussed. CVB update Updates on the 2024 CVB budget was provided by Keller. Biggest change is eliminating some single line items and shifting funds to the General Marketing line item. Keller is also trying to work with Mary on developing the CVB Director job description as one does not currently exist. Defining the role and expectations will help Mary set boundaries and provide clearer direction on what's expected now and in the future. General Business/Development update GSDC meeting is on Thursday @ Stearns History Museum, GSDC President will be attending Sept. EDA meeting and meeting with staff and Mayor next week, Wedding/Event Venue on Jade Rd was tabled by Planning Commission until Aug. 28th, Elm St Roadway discussions continue, additional Industrial development in the Industrial Park is on the horizon, and Keller recapped conversation he had with Berscheid Builders regarding land they own near Kennedy.
